Multistrada 1200: The Beginning – “A new biking concept”. That was the brief given to the Ducati designers when they started work on the original Multistrada. Now, Ducati have taken the concept further, with a design that satisfies all the demands of a motorcyclist combined into one bike: a Multistrada with the emphasis on Multi, a sportsbike which is powerful and fun but also easy to ride and whose first priority is safety and comfort.
In a world where motorcycles are becoming more and more focused it’s perhaps counterintuitive of Ducati–manufacturer of some of the most focused motorcycles in the world–to come up with a new motorcycle that’s so diverse. But that’s exactly what the new 2010 Multistrada 1200 is: Four motorcycles in one.
The new Ducati Multistrada 1200S looks set to redefine the adventure bike market with its four switchable modes (sport, touring, urban and enduro), which adjust power delivery, suspension and traction control.
Ducati’s new Multistrada 1200 stands out as an incredibly exciting design. Second only to BMW’s S1000RR superbike in terms of engine management technology, the new bike boasts a tweaked 1198cc superbike engine in a big, adventure trailie style chassis and fashionable bodywork. ABS, traction control, electronically adjustable suspension and selectable riding modes are all present and correct on the ‘S’ version.
